HUNTSVILLE — Mayor Tommy Battle is excited about a “state of the art” public safety training academy designed exclusively for first responders.
The 58,000-square-foot facility includes classrooms, a large multiuse auditorium, and training and instructional exercise rooms for the police and fire departments. There will also be indoor/outdoor kennels, a shower, and laundry/gear storage areas.
“The men and women who serve our community take an oath of office to put their lives on the line for our safety, and it’s our responsibility to equip them with the highest quality training and resources,” Battle said. “It is important we make sure they have the tools necessary to protect and serve effectively, keeping our city safe and secure.”
The facility will open after a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday that will be attended by Battle, Huntsville Fire & Rescue Chief Howard McFarlen, and Huntsville Police Chief Chief Kirk Giles
The ceremony is 2 p.m. at 5365 Triana Boulevard.
