Rock-it City: Free, live music provide the tempo to launch Huntsville Music Month

HUNTSVILLE — All systems are go for Launchpad and the Rocket City will be the Rock-it City this weekend.

Huntsville Music Month is preparing to blast off with the annual, free LAUNCHPAD concert series on Friday thruugh Sunday in Big Spring Park West.

LAUNCHPAD is the official kickoff event to Huntsville Music Month, a celebration of Huntsville’s diverse and dynamic music scene throughout the entire month of September. Now in its third year, the series features three nights of high-powered performances across multiple genres delivered from exciting local, regional, and national artists.

“We’re proud to see LAUNCHPAD evolve into an annual tradition for music fans that shines a spotlight on Huntsville and the talent gracing our stages,” said Huntsville Music Officer Matt Mandrella. “This weekend sets the tone for a month dedicated to music discovery, collaboration and community spirit.”

This year’s LAUNCHPAD lineup offers something for everyone, from smooth jazz to indie rock and alternative to Americana soul. Each night will showcase a curated mix of local, regional, and national acts on the Huntsville Music Office stage, offering residents and visitors a high-energy, family-friendly concert experience under the stars.

  • Billy Allen + The Pollies
  • Laney Jones and the Spirits
  • The Wanda Band

Sunday, 5-9 p.m., Jazz in the Park

  • The Emily Joseph Band

The event is free to attend, and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks and local vendors will be on-site throughout the weekend.

Huntsville Music Month is an initiative by the city of Huntsville and the Huntsville Music Office to spotlight the city’s creative economy and amplify opportunities for musicians, venues, music businesses and fans to connect.

“Music is a part of what makes Huntsville not just a smart place, but a soulful one,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “LAUNCHPAD reflects our commitment to building a vibrant, welcoming music ecosystem that supports local artists and brings our community together.”

LAUNCHPAD is produced by the Huntsville Music Office with support from Huntsville Parks and Recreation, the city’s Office of Multicultural Affairs and Downtown Huntsville, Inc.
