Rock the South rolls into fall: Inaugural Fields of Decatur festival delivers 4 days of country

This was a year of new experiences for the 15th year of Rock the South. After the four-month postponement of the festival, taking the celebration from June to October, the crisp fall air was welcome to the fully packed crowd finally gathered for the biggest party in the south.

The change in months was not the only new experience as this year was the inaugural festival at the Fields of Decatur.

While the location was new, the spirit of Rock the South was alive and well— from the oversized cowboy boots welcoming concert-goers in, to the constant stream of artists, both new and beloved. Fans of all ages, some with chairs to relax and take in the show and others excited to roam about the field, all arrived at the festival with a buzz of excitement.

In between sets on the main stage, attendees could take in a show at the Surfside Stage, explore a variety of vendors and take a ride at the newly added fair, which offered a classic Ferris wheel, spinning rides, and fair games.

From sweet treats to oversized pretzels to the busy line for a Papa John’s pizza, Rock the South attendees found no shortage of good eats and great times. Not to mention the four days of non-stop artists for fans of every vein of country.

As the encores end and the crowds return home, long-time attendees and future fans can rest assured that the biggest party in the south continues to rock on.
