Saturday is Sweet Grown Alabama Day

Sweet Grown Alabama is a non-profit that promotes Alabama farmers by connecting  consumers and retailers to foods and agricultural products produced within the state.

Each year, the organization hosts Sweet Grown Alabama Day, dedicated to promoting the amazing work farmers are doing in our state. Locals are encouraged to celebrate all things locally grown alongside Sweet Grown Alabama on Saturday.

The goal of Sweet Grown Alabama Day is for every participant to do at least one activity that supports an Alabama farmer. This can be as simple as cooking with locally sourced ingredients, buying from a favorite local farmer, picking locally grown flowers, and more.

Sweet Grown Alabama encourages those participating to share on their social media (Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter) and tag Sweet Grown Alabama to be entered to win a gift bag full of Sweet Grown Alabama products.

If you want to participate but will not be in town on Sweet Grown Alabama Day, don’t worry. Sweet Grown Alabama has adatabase that allows consumers to easily connect with local farmers in their area and find the specific Alabama-grown products they are shopping for. Simply input your ZIP Code to find products nearest you. Click here to use the database and be sure to bookmark the page for future shopping.

“When you buy products grown in Alabama, not only do you receive the best products around but you also support our state’s economy,” said Sweet Grown Alabama Director Ellie Watson. “Participating in Sweet Grown Alabama Day is a simple, fun way to show our support for the hardworking men and women who grow our food and other agricultural products.”

One of the easiest ways to participate in Sweet Grown Alabama Day is by visiting and supporting a farmers market. There will be a number of farmers markets throughout Alabama offering events in honor of Sweet Grown Alabama Day. Visitors can speak with farmers, support the local economy, and have an amazing time with friends and family.
