State parks offer a cacophony of color from nature’s palette

FORT PAYNE — North Alabama is beautiful throughout the year, but especially in the fall.

As the greens of summer surrender to glittering yellow poplars, scarlet dogwoods, orange maples and golden hickories, the region unfolds its patchwork quilt of color.

This blend of brilliant autumn foliage, coupled with cooler temperatures and an occasional gentle breeze, makes for an unforgettable experience.

The Alabama tourism website features a Fall Color Trail, and Outdoor Alabama shares more about the fall color transitions across the park system, too.

Providing campsites featuring modern and primitive camping, the Alabama State Parks provide locations that are comfortable and fun. Modern bathhouses, spacious camping pads, waterfront sites and scenic locations help create memories that will last a lifetime.

With cabins, chalets and cottages available, it’s easy to choose a location that can accommodate any group size.

The resort parks provide lodging, restaurants, and family fun without ever leaving the park. There are 700 lodge rooms at six parks to make it convenient to plan a family Staycation.
