The Main Event brings out the kid in all of us

After a soft opening Tuesday, February 22, the new Main Event at Bridge Street officially cut the ribbon on their grand opening Friday, February 25 to much pomp and circumstance, a marching band and the first 200 people in line receiving a free year of laser tag.

It isn’t just the kids who are talking about it, it is businesses discussing a venue for office parties and meetings; it’s three generations of adults planning a night out with the whole family; and its community groups looking for a great place to hold a fundraising event and catered dinner.

While Huntsville was ruing the loss of Toys R Us, the Main Event was already renovating the 50,000 sq.ft. former toy store building in late 2019 with original plans of opening in mid-2020. While their plans were delayed due to COVID, they could not be stopped from bringing a little bit of everything fun to the Rocket City.

The Main Event is not just a bowling alley, but they certainly have plenty of bowling lanes available.

It is not just an arcade, although there is a full menu of new and classic arcade games to play.

Main Event is not just an activity center, but there is no shortage of activities involved including billiards, laser tag, mini-golf, gravity ropes and rock-climbing. They run the gamut in virtual reality games, immersive story rooms, and the new trending favorite multiball.

And the Main Event is not just an eatery, but you will be hard pressed to find a better menu of burgers, salads, and desserts including shakes. And the Main Event offers customizable banquet and party menus for every occasion and a full-service kitchen for dining in, taking out, or call for catering.

No matter what your party theme: Pizza for the kid’s birthday; sliders for sporting events, prime rib for a formal banquet; barbecue; Mexican; or simple crowd pleasers and appetizers – the Main Event can customize your event.

They have a non-alcoholic drink bar plus custom cocktails and craft beers, wine and spirited margaritas, sippers, fruity frozen concoctions, and whiskey favorites.

The Main Event is appropriate for all ages according to Allyson Myers, sales manager for the Main Event, however some activities require the person be 48 inches or taller to participate.

“I don’t think there were many doubts about why they chose to bring a Main Event to Huntsville,” said Myers. “Huntsville is one of the fastest growing cities out there because of all of the corporate business coming in here, the FBI and Toyota too. This was the perfect time and place to bring Main Event hospitality to the Huntsville community.”

Nope, the Main Event is not just a bowling alley or arcade or restaurant or game room – it is one big bundle of family fun – regardless of age. After all, even smart people enjoy a little fun ever once in a while!
