TUSCUMBIA — The corner of Sixth and Main streets in Tuscumbia is about to get a little tastier with the opening of The Pour House at Coldwater Bar & Grille.
Owner Skip Nichols, who said the restaurant’s concept has been in the works for a couple of years, is excited that everything is coming together now.
“The Pour House will give everyone in the area another option, and we are looking forward to sharing good food with Tuscumbia,” Nichols said. “In the next couple of weeks, we will get our team together to work out any kinks before we open to the public.”
Tuscumbia’s downtown has Superhero Chefs, Hometown Pizza, and The Palace, each with its own distinct flavor, and The Pour House will add an American bistro vibe.
“We wanted to do something that anyone would be comfortable going to,” Nichols said. “We will have a country breakfast, a lunch menu that will be available into the evening, and a dinner menu that will feature familiar southern dishes with a fresh take.”
A few menu items include a double gravy biscuit plate, cauliflower crust pizza, Natchitoches (pronounced “Nack-a-tish”) Cajun crawfish etoufee pie, Spring Creek chicken sandwich, and a 14-ounce double French bone-in pork chop that, Nichols said, “reminds me of the closing scene in ‘The Flintstones’ movie” in which Fred receives his dinner order at the drive-in.
The Pour House appetizer specialties will include fresh fried “pourk” rinds with homemade dipping sauces; a sausage, pimento cheese & spicy green bean plate; Sixth Street Corn Dip; and, of course, fried green tomatoes.
“When we were deciding on the menu, my wife, Ashley Morrow, said it had to be foods that people can pronounce and made with ingredients that no one has to Google,” Nichols said with a laugh. Nichols and Morrow, along with Josh Kelley, also own The Shoppes at Coldwater, which is currently undergoing an expansion.
To go along with the mouth-watering meals, the restaurant will also feature a wine and bourbon bar. “We are finalizing the wine list now and will have the bourbon list a few days before opening,” Nichols said. The Pour House will also serve beer and cocktails. Classes through Whiskey University will be offered some Sunday afternoons, and wine education will be added as well.
“Our dining area will be family friendly, and we will have a grown-up bar,” Nichols said. “We will have something for everyone, and at a variety of price ranges, so come see us in Tuscumbia.”
In addition to the indoor dining area, The Pour House will have patio seating on the Sixth Street side. Check The Pour House at Coldwater Facebook page for opening dates and special events.
