Tramel joins Minerva Defense as chief technology officer

HUNTSVILLE – Dr.  Robert Tramel has been named chief technology officer of Minerva Defense, the company announced. Tramel will be responsible for leading the strategic development, management and technical oversight of all corporate R&D and S&T programs.

“Bob shares our vision and is the right addition to our team,” said CEO Joseph Summers. “Yes, he brings decades of experience building successful S&T programs across a wide customer base and array of technical disciplines, but he is also a genuinely thoughtful leader, a very good person and hysterical.”

Before joining Minerva, a Huntsville-based startup, Tramel was chief scientist at Kord Technologies and led several corporate technology programs. His career spans 35 years as a research engineer, analysis engineer, senior engineer, principal engineer, and chief scientist.

“Bob is the missing piece for our startup. I cannot express how excited I am he is on the team,” said company President Bill Bailey III. “Bob has the technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership experience to really get us moving forward faster. His experience as a physicist, researcher and technical manager is outstanding.

“And what is more, he is a genuine, warm, and funny person. Our team is getting stronger in all the right ways.”

Tramel earned a bachelor’s in physics from Tennessee Tech, and a master’s in applied mathematics and Ph.D. in aerospace, mechanical and engineering science from the University of Tennessee.

“I have been associated with some the best companies in Huntsville for the past 24 years,” Tramel said. “The vison for Minerva that Bill and Joseph have put together is based on a deep knowledge and understanding of DoD needs and the Huntsville business environment.

“I am excited and honored to come alongside the team at Minerva to use my expertise to support our brave men and women in uniform.”
