WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) announced his appointment today to Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Children and Families for the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions.
As the lead Republican on this subcommittee, Senator Tuberville will prioritize empowering families to make the best educational decisions for their children and drive legislation ensuring K-12 education provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for their desired career paths.
“As a former educator, coach, and mentor for more than 40 years, I can’t say enough about the positive impacts of a good education,” said Sen. Tuberville. “The quality of education provided in our school systems must transcend zip code, race, and career goals so that all of our students feel excited and prepared for their next steps.
“Investing in our students during their K-12 years will pay huge dividends for our local communities and future workforce.
“I look forward to serving on this subcommittee so I can help ensure students in Alabama have access to the best educational opportunities our country has to offer.”
Senator Tuberville will also remain on the Senate Subcommittee on Employment and Workplace Safety, where he will continue to advocate for workforce development opportunities for students, including short-term certification and technical training programs.
As Ranking Member on this subcommittee, Senator Tuberville will be well-positioned to work on these Alabama-specific issues such as addressing the mental health needs of Alabama’s youth; ensuring Alabama’s students and parents have the best resources to succeed in the classroom; and empowering Alabama parents and families to make the best health care and education choices for their children.
