Turner Construction’s Huntsville operation is one of eight companies selected by the Air Force for a contracting vehicle worth up to $900 million for restoration and modernization work at military ground-testing facilities across the country.
The Air Force awarded the eight companies indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts under its Facilities Acquisitions for Restoration and Modernization III program.
In addition to Turner, the Air Force selected Healtheon Inc., Edgewater Technical Associates, exp Federal, Burns & McDonnell Engineering, Amentum Technology, Shimmick Construction and Sea Pac Engineering for the contracting pool. Turner Construction Co. of Huntsville was the only Alabama-based operation identified among the eight awardees.
The contracts cover mechanical and electrical work, instrumentation, data systems and controls, along with design-build projects supporting military ground-testing facilities.
Work may be performed at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee; Holloman and Kirtland Air Force bases and White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico; Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio; Mountain View, California; and White Oak, Maryland.
The contracting period runs through Sept. 4, 2034.
The $900 million represents the maximum combined ceiling available under the contracting vehicle rather than an individual award to Turner. Specific projects and funding will be assigned through future task orders among the selected contractors.
The Air Force said the contract was competitively awarded, with eight offers received. A total of $8,000 in fiscal 2026 research, development, test and evaluation funding was obligated at the time of the awards.
The Air Force Test Center at Arnold Air Force Base is the contracting activity.
Turner has maintained a presence in Huntsville for decades and has worked on some of the city’s most recognizable projects, including the Davidson Center for Space Exploration at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and the new Huntsville City Hall.
The Huntsville office also operates an in-house fabrication shop that supports projects beyond North Alabama.
