DECATUR — In appreciation of its work in protecting the community, the Trinity Volunteer Fire Department received a “boost” from United Launch Alliance.

The aerospace company donated a retired 2008 fire truck from its rocket factory in Decatur to the fire department.

Dan Caughran, vice president of Production Operations and Supply Chain for ULA, presented the truck to Fire Chief Bill Petty and Assistant Chief Kim Petty.

According to a news release, the ULA truck will replace an outdated and worn brush truck and will be housed at Station 1 serving the area north of the railroad tracks, including areas near the ULA factory.

The donation also allows the fire department to use funds to buy other needed equipment with mandatory replacement dates, ULA said.
