UNA eyes another fall record with on-campus housing at capacity

FLORENCE — As the University of North Alabama, Alabama’s fastest-growing university, moves toward another term of record enrollment in the fall, its residence halls will be at capacity with a record number of students living on campus.

UNA continues to excel as Alabama’s Workforce Development University, providing high-quality degrees that lead to in-demand, high-paying jobs. This has created unprecedented demand for an education and campus experience from UNA. Due to this demand, and even with two new apartment options available for fall, Housing and Residence Life applications are currently closed. Students can still join a waitlist to receive updates by visiting una.edu/housing.

Associate vice president for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Minnette Ellis said, “UNA Housing and Residence Life is dedicated to engaging students in exceptional living and learning experiences and is actively working on providing more opportunities for students to live on campus.”

Also, as part of its workforce development efforts, UNA recently added several programs to its micro-credential offerings, including Hospitality and Events Management, Communication Studies for Nonprofits and Spanish for Clinical Encounters. These programs are online in self-paced formats and can be completed in one semester, are labor-market driven, and help professionals stay responsive to changes in their disciplines.

UNA says on its website, “A micro-credential is a small program that allows individuals to gain relevant skills needed in today’s workplace. All micro-credentials offered at UNA are aligned with 21st-century workforce demands, including critical thinking, intercultural fluency, digital technology, and more.”

Other UNA micro-credentials include Healthcare Simulation, Professional Accounting, Global Business, Human Resource Management, and Health Care Management. For more information, visit https://www.una.edu/microcredentials/.

Located in Florence, Alabama, The University of North Alabama is the state’s oldest public university.  The 130-acre UNA campus resides in northwestern Alabama in an area known as The Shoals that also includes cities Tuscumbia, Sheffield and Muscle Shoals.
