UNA men’s basketball to ring in new year and new ASUN season against Stetson

FLORENCE – If you’re in the mood for some college basketball to start the new year, then the University of North Alabama is where you need to be.

The Lions host Stetson on Thursday in their Atlantic Sun Conference opener. Tipoff is noon inside CB&S Bank Arena.

UNA finished its non-conference slate with a 5-6 record and will enter ASUN play as the defending co-regular season champions. The Lions were 14-4 in league play last season, including an 11-0 record at home with two postseason wins.

This will be the first New Year’s Day home game for the men’s program. UNA played on the road at Texas Tech on Jan. 1, 2024. There are no other known instances of a New Year’s game.
