FLORENCE – Fresh off being named Co-Specialist of the Year by the United Athletic Conference, University of North Alabama junior punter Adam Watford was honored by FCS Football Central on Monday, earning a spot as a Second Team All-American.
FCS Football Central is a division of Sports Illustrated. FCS analyst Zach McKinnell is the founder and senior editor of the publication. Each year, FCS Football Central builds an annual FCS All-American Team, honoring the best players across the subdivision.
Watford is no stranger to FCS Football Central awards, as the publication named him to the Freshman All-American team in 2023.
One of the top punters in FCS this season, Watford won United Athletic Conference Co-Specialist of the Year and was voted First Team All-UAC by the league’s head coaches. He was also one of 10 semifinalists for the 2025 FCS Punter of the Year award.
Watford finished fifth in the nation with 46.6 yards per punt and was the only punter in FBS and FCS to have three punts surpass 70 yards. He had a 74-yarder against Central Arkansas and 72-yarders against Utah Tech and Tarleton State.
The Dothan native punted 66 times for 3,073 yards and finished with 12 fair catches, 18 punts inside the 20-yard line and 21 punts over 50 yards. Watford broke the FCS single-season record at UNA for most 50-yard punts while also setting the all-time career record for most 50-yard punts with 36. The previous record was set by former national champion punter Tony Faggioni in 1996.
Watford led the UAC in punting and led Division I with the longest punt twice this season.
