The talent lineup for “An All-Star Salute to ’90s Country” continues to grow, with producers announcing a dozen additional performers for the television special taping February 5 at the Von Braun Center’s Propst Arena.
Newly added artists include Jamey Johnson, Aaron Lewis, Aaron Tippin, Michael Ray, Lee Greenwood, Carlene Carter, The Forester Sisters, McBride & The Ride, Ken Mellons, Janie Fricke, T. Graham Brown and Eric Blankenship.
The nationally televised PBS special is the fourth in a series produced by LMA Productions and will feature original hit songs from the 1990s, performed by the artists who made them famous.
Tippin, Terry McBride of McBride & The Ride, Carter, Brown and Mellons join the previously announced lineup of more than 30 artists.
In addition to the ’90s focus, the show will include several “throwback moments” honoring standout artists from the 1980s.
Those segments include Lee Greenwood performing his Grammy-winning song “I.O.U.,” Janie Fricke singing her chart-topper “It Ain’t Easy Bein’ Easy,” and The Forester Sisters performing “I Fell In Love Again Last Night” — marking their first performance together in Alabama in more than 30 years.
Johnson and Lewis will also take part in tribute performances, honoring the late George Jones and Waylon Jennings, respectively. Michael Ray is scheduled to honor another late country artist, to be announced. Huntsville native Eric Blankenship will kick off the evening during pre-show festivities beginning at 6:40 p.m.
“This show is going to be one that is talked about for years to come,” executive producer Frank Matassa of LMA Productions said. “Getting so many artists together to sing their hits that everyone will remember is very exciting.”
Tickets for the February 5 show are on sale now, with prices starting at $79. More information is available at vonbrauncenter.com.
