They call it the world’s ultimate playground, and Huntsville International Airport and Breeze Airways can send you there with more money to spend on the shows and casinos with their announcement today of $99 one-way fares from Huntsville to Las Vegas beginning August 4.
It is HSV’s 14th non-stop route to Las Vegas, and starting in August, Breeze Airways will offer it year-round. Travel on Thursdays and Sundays to bookend a weekend, or stay longer and enjoy all the attractions and shows in town, or discover the natural beauty of Red Rock Canyon.
Passengers will also enjoy flying on a brand-new Airbus A220 commissioned by Breeze last year. The low-cost airline plans to triple its fleet of planes from an original 13 aircraft to 30 this year. The Airbus 220 is Alabama-built, too, with one new Airbus 220 rolling off the assembly line in Mobile ready to take to the skies every month for the next six years.
“The A220-300 is a game-changer for us as we now add long haul flights and transcontinental service,” said Breeze’s founder and CEO David Neeleman. “The Airbus aircraft embodies the Breeze ideal of merging kindness with technology, pairing unrivaled passenger comfort with eco-friendly efficiency.”
The addition of the Airbus aircraft has made it possible to add 10 cities and 35 more routes to the airline startup’s offerings. The planes feature 126 seats of which 36 are available at the “Nicest” level, otherwise known as First Class.
Breeze chose Huntsville as one of the first cities to begin air service last May. They currently fly non-stop from HSV to Charleston, S.C., and Tampa, Fla.
“Breeze is a valuable partner for Huntsville International especially as we see leisure travel growing in our market,” said Mark McDaniel, chairman of the Board of Directors for Huntsville International Airport. “The destinations they offer have been very popular with our community, and this is a successful example of just how we attract more non-stop flights to our airport and offer lower fares to our passengers: by supporting the air service we have right here in North Alabama. Breeze is doing it right.”
Passengers can earn credits called BreezePoints that can be used towards future flights, additional bags, and seat assignments. Flights can be changed or canceled with no additional fees up to 15 minutes prior to flight.
“Breeze continues to grow in our market by adding a much-desired non-stop flight to Las Vegas with two weekly flights,” said Rick Tucker, CEO, Huntsville International Airport. “The Thursday and Sunday service will provide convenient, non-stop weekend get-a-ways for our passengers.”
Breeze Airways is a low-fare airline created by JetBlue founder David Neeleman in 2021. The airline is unique in the low-fare airlines category because it offers affordable first class seating.
“This will complement their service to Tampa and Charleston and enhance our market’s leisure destinations,” added Tucker. “This new service is ‘seriously nice’ for HSV!”
