Huntsville International Airport reached a historic milestone in 2025, setting an all-time annual passenger traffic record as expanded air service and increased capacity fueled continued growth across the Tennessee Valley.
Airport officials announced that 1,722,898 passengers traveled through Huntsville International Airport (HSV) in 2025, marking a 5.3% increase over the previous year and the highest passenger total in the airport’s history.
“This historic milestone is a clear signal that our North Alabama community is growing and that travelers value the air service they can find at Huntsville International Airport,” said Joey Ceci, board chair of the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority. “By continuing strategic investment in infrastructure to modernize our airport and improve the passenger experience, we ensure HSV remains a powerful economic engine and a critical asset attracting business, talent and opportunity to our region.”
The record-setting year continues a three-year trend of steady growth that has outpaced all previous passenger totals. HSV served 1,473,629 travelers in 2023, followed by 1,635,589 passengers in 2024, before surpassing 1.7 million travelers in 2025.
Airport leadership credited the milestone to expanded flight capacity, strong regional economic momentum and continued collaboration with airline partners.
Huntsville International Airport is currently served by Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Breeze Airways, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines, offering nonstop service to 19 destinations nationwide.
Together, the airlines added new routes, increased flight frequencies and deployed larger aircraft to meet growing demand.
“This accomplishment reflects years of laying the groundwork for success through deliberate planning and partnership,” said Butch Roberts, chief executive officer of Huntsville International Airport. “Our airline partners stepped up in a big way this year, adding five new nonstop destinations, increasing frequency to Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Orlando and Tampa, and flying larger planes with greater seating capacity.”
Airport officials say growth is expected to continue as the region’s population and economy expand.
“With more than $121 million in planned infrastructure upgrades, including a new parking deck expansion, new restaurants in the terminal and the start of an extensive concourse renovation, we are preparing for the future,” Roberts said. “Already in 2026, we are looking forward to launching new air service on Allegiant to Gulf Shores, Orlando/Sanford and St. Pete, and we will continue working with our airline partners to bring even more service to our community.”
Huntsville International Airport has earned national recognition for its service and facilities, including being named the No. 1 small airport in the United States by Newsweek Reader’s Choice Awards in 2024 and 2025.
