MADISON — Top Angels’ prospect Christian Moore leads more than a dozen Rocket City Trash Pandas in Friday’s annual Spring Breakout.
This is the second year for MLB Spring Breakout, a four-day event showcasing baseball’s future with the stars of Minor League Baseball.
MLB and MiLB announced the Los Angeles Angels roster which includes 14 Rocket City Trash Pandas.
The Angels’ top prospects will play the top prospects of the Chicago Cubs on Friday at Sloan Park in Mesa, Ariz., the spring training home of the Cubs.
The 14 Trash Pandas are:
- Pitchers – Brady Choban, Jack Dashwood, Carlos Espinosa, Jose Fermin, Keythel Key, George Klassen, Camden Minacci, and Samy Natera Jr.
- Position Players – Sam Brown, Cole Fontenelle, Denzer Guzman, David Mershon, Christian Moore, and Nelson Rada.
Moore, 22, is the club’s top prospect, ranked No. 67 overall by MLB Pipeline, and is the Angels’ Spring Breakout roster headliner.
The University of Tennessee product hit .322 with five home runs over 25 games in his rookie campaign. Moore was selected eighth overall by the Angels in 2024 and was promoted to Rocket City on Aug. 2. He is in Major League camp for the first time and competing for the starting job at second base.
Rada was the youngest player in the Southern League in 2024, playing most of the season at 18, six years younger than the average competition. The Venezuelan outfielder finished the season strong, batting .394 over 12 games in September.
This year’s Breakout runs through Sunday at Grapefruit League and Cactus League stadiums. The showcase features 16 exhibition games between teams comprised of each MLB organization’s top prospects, creating a new touchpoint on the baseball calendar that celebrates the sport’s budding talent. Last year, the Angels’ top prospects played the prospects of the Dodgers.

The Trash Pandas open their fifth season April 4 when the Chattanooga Lookouts visit Toyota Field for a three-game series.
