On the fly: Catch a ride during vintage plane exhibit

MERIDIANVILLE – Vintage aircraft aficionados can’t fly them, but they can not only look but touch and ride World War II planes this week in Meridianville.

The aircraft are scheduled to be on display Thursday-Monday at Huntsville Executive Airport.

The local chapter of the Commemorative Air Force Airpower History Tour is making its first summer stop with the B-29 Superfortress “Fifi’’ the headliner for the event that is open to the public daily rom 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Ticket access to the planes is $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 11-17 and free admission for children 10 and under.

Planes:

  • B-29 Superfortress “Fifi’’
  • T-6 Texan
  • P-13 Spearman
  • RC-45J Expeditor
  • P-51 Mustang “Gunfighter.”

The planes will be staged at the Executive Flight Center FBO Ramp all exhibit. 

The B-29 will be open to the public to tour the cockpit at 9 a.m. Thursday and Friday and noon Saturday to Monday.

All of the World War II planes are available for rides during the event . The B-29 will be available Saturday-Monday at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
