256 Today among websites affected by Cloudflare outage

SAN FRANCISCO — An internet infrastructure company is back in service after an outage early today knocked major websites offline.

“Cloudfare services are currently operating normally,” Cloudfare said on its status page. “We are no longer observing elevated errors or latency across the network.”

Many sites came back online within a few hours. 256 Today and its sister publication Yellowhammer News were also impacted. Other sites included OpenAI, X, Truth Social, ChatGPT, Shopify, and Indeed.

In an update just before 9 a.m. to its status page, Cloudflare said it had implemented a fix to resolve the outage, though it noted some users may still experience issues accessing its online dashboard.

“Our engineering teams continue to closely monitor the platform and perform a deeper investigation into the earlier disruption, but no configuration changes are being made at this time,” the company said. “At this point, it is considered safe to re-enable any Cloudflare services that were temporarily disabled during the incident.

“We will provide a final update once our investigation is complete.”
