From beach music to Dolly Parton tributes, North Alabama has plenty happening this week. Whether you’re looking for a night out in Huntsville or a food-focused evening in Cullman, here are some events taking place across the region from Sept. 4–10.
First Friday in Downtown Gadsden – Gadsden
September 4
Downtown Gadsden comes alive for its monthly First Friday celebration, running through October. Stores stay open late into the evening as the district fills with live entertainment, sales, food and local artists from across the region. It’s a low-key way to support small businesses while catching some live music downtown.
LAUNCHPAD: Huntsville Music Month Kickoff – Huntsville
September 4-5
Huntsville Music Month kicks off with a revamped version of LAUNCHPAD, bringing free live music across eight different venues around the city. The kickoff weekend sets the tone for a full month of concerts, showcases and community music events throughout September, including Jazz in the Park and Concerts on the Dock.
Goodbye Dolly 9-to-5 Pub Crawl – Huntsville
September 5
Rhinestones, boots and big hair take over Downtown Huntsville for the Goodbye Dolly: 9-to-5 Pub Crawl, running 5-9 p.m. and beyond. The crawl kicks off at Rhythm on Monroe before hitting Baker & Able, Del Chuco Cantina y Cocina, The Standard Social Market, Vesper Sky Lounge and Stella’s Elixir Lounge, with Dolly-inspired drink specials, music and photo ops along the way.
Cruise & Croon – Oneonta
September 6
Car enthusiasts should head to 1st Avenue East in downtown Oneonta for the All American Cruisers Cruise In, showcasing 50-75 vintage, classic and custom automobiles. Merchants extend their hours for shopping and mingling, and a DJ keeps the tunes going from 5-8 p.m. The event is free, family-friendly and held rain or shine — bring a lawn chair.
Scottsboro Three Arts Club – Scottsboro
September 6
King Caldwell Park hosts the 53rd annual Art Sunday, a juried arts and crafts festival bringing together more than 100 artisans and makers from across Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina and Louisiana. The festival runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with musical entertainment, children’s activities and a photography contest, with proceeds benefiting local arts and education programs. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for school-age children.
Culinary in Cullman – Cullman
September 10
Kick off Cullman’s Restaurant Week at Culinary in Cullman, the official launch event running 6-10 p.m. at The Venue at Cotton Creek. Guests can enjoy signature tastings from participating local restaurants, connect with community leaders and get a preview of the culinary scene ahead of the week’s festivities. Parking is free.
Summer’s officially winding down, but North Alabama’s event calendar isn’t slowing down with it. Between car shows, food festivals and a full month of live music ahead, there’s no shortage of ways to spend the days leading into fall.
