PPG is making a $70 million investment in its longtime Huntsville aerospace operation, adding a new 112,000-square-foot facility as demand grows for aircraft cockpit and passenger windows.

The multiyear expansion will increase capacity for PPG’s aerospace transparencies business, which serves commercial, military and general aviation customers.

“Demand for aerospace transparencies continues to grow across commercial, military and general aviation markets,” said Francois Buehlmann, PPG general manager of global transparencies for Aerospace. “This expansion increases our operational efficiency, provides room for future equipment investments and reinforces our long-term commitment to serving customers and investing in Huntsville.”

The project includes leasing and building out the new 112,000-square-foot facility to house production support functions. Moving those operations will free up additional manufacturing space at PPG’s existing Huntsville aerospace transparencies plant.

PPG said the additional capacity will help the company meet growing demand for aircraft cockpit and passenger windows while leaving room for future equipment investments and growth.

The investment builds on more than five decades of PPG manufacturing in Huntsville. The company has operated its aerospace transparencies facility in the city for more than 55 years, producing aircraft windshields, windows and other transparency products.

“Huntsville is recognized globally for innovation and leadership in aerospace,” Buehlmann said. “We are proud to continue investing in this community and look forward to growing alongside the region’s dynamic aerospace network.”

PPG’s broader aerospace business supplies transparencies along with coatings, sealants, engineered materials and related products and services to aviation and military customers around the world.

Headquartered in Pittsburgh, PPG operates in more than 50 countries and reported $15.9 billion in net sales in 2025. The company serves aerospace as part of a larger portfolio spanning industrial, transportation, construction and consumer markets.
