HUNTSVILLE — “The Nutcracker” by the Huntsville Ballet is a holiday classic on its own.
But, when you add the talented Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, well … that’s a whole ‘nother level of classic.
And the two goliaths of local music and dance come together next month as the Huntsville Ballet hosts its 57th annual presentation of “The Nutcracker,” accompanied by the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra.
“We are extraordinarily grateful to be able to perform ‘The Nutcracker’ with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra,” said Artistic Director Phillip Otto. “There’s something special about performing with a live orchestra — the audience can truly feel the energy.”
Performances are Dec. 12–14 at the Mark C. Smith Concert Hall in the Von Braun Center. For tickets, click HERE.
The production features a cast of 140 dancers, including Huntsville Ballet Company’s full roster of 15 professional dancers. The remaining cast members are students from Huntsville Ballet School.
For generations, “The Nutcracker” has been a cherished holiday tradition, following Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as they battle the Mouse King and his army, journey through a snow-filled forest, and arrive in the Land of Sweets to be entertained by the Sugar Plum Fairy and her court of magical characters.
As part of its community outreach, Huntsville Ballet will host more than 3,000 area third graders for special school performances on the mornings of Dec. 11 and 12.
