Aviation & Missile Solutions has promoted two members of its leadership team to top executive positions as the Huntsville-based defense technology company continues to grow.

AMS announced Monday that Jonathan Hodges has been promoted to chief operating officer and Caroline Bivens to chief financial officer, effective Aug. 17.

“Jonathan and Caroline built business systems and processes foundational to AMS’ success as an independent company,” AMS President Steve Thomas said. “These promotions reflect the significant contributions they’ve made and the confidence we have in their ability to continue growing the company.”

Hodges joined AMS in 2022 as director of human resources. As COO, he will oversee human resources, security, information technology, facilities and communications.

He brings more than 25 years of experience supporting defense organizations and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

“AMS has always been defined by its people and the culture we’ve built together,” Hodges said. “I’m excited to continue serving our employees and helping ensure they have the support and resources they need to succeed.”

Bivens, who also joined AMS in 2022, will lead the company’s accounting, purchasing and contracts teams while overseeing its financial strategy.

Before joining AMS as enterprise controller, she managed financial reporting for a $1 billion portfolio at Dynetics. Bivens also serves as treasurer of the Women’s Economic Development Council Foundation Board of Directors and is a graduate of Leadership Greater Huntsville’s Connect Class 22 and Flagship Class 37.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to serve AMS in this new capacity,” Bivens said. “I look forward to providing financial leadership that strengthens our organization, supports thoughtful decision-making, and ensures responsible stewardship as we continue to grow.”

Employee-owned AMS is headquartered in Huntsville and employs more than 300 people. The company specializes in technologies supporting national security missions, including air and missile defense radars, interceptors, command and control and unmanned systems.
