Archers take aim against breast cancer at 13th annual 3D tournament 

CULLMAN – A bow and arrow can’t eradicate breast cancer no matter the skill of the person drawing the string, but archers can nonetheless aid in the fight against the disease.

The 13th annual Bow-Up Against Breast Cancer 3D tournament, presented by Heritage Archery Club and the Bowhunters of Alabama, is set for Memorial Day Weekend at Cullman Community Archery Park. All proceeds benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama and fuel lifesaving breast cancer research across the state.

“The BCRFA is incredibly grateful to the archery community for their support of Bow-Up Against Breast Cancer,” said Beth Davis, president and CEO of BCRFA. “Research funding is the lifeblood of advancements in breast cancer treatment, early detection methods, and how we will ultimately eliminate the disease as a public health threat. Events like Bow-Up are vital in our ongoing efforts.

“We encourage archery fans to sign up and honor those who have battled this disease.” 

Registration open for competitors of all ages at www.bow-up.org. The early bird registration ends May 3 and the online signup ends 11:59 p.m. May 23. On-site registration for the tournament May 25-26 will open at 7 a.m. each day.

In a 3D tournament, participants walk a preset course shooting at targets of varying distances.

Entry:

• Adult Archer – $20 Early Bird, $25 after May 3 or on-site.
• Youth Archer (15 and under) – $12 Early Bird, $15 after May 3 or on-site.
• Team (up to 5 archers): $100 Early Bird, $125 after May 3 or on-site.

• Fixed Pins (Women, Men, Seniors)
• Open Class (Women, Men, Seniors)
• Traditional Class
• Youth (ages 15 and under) (Boys and Girls)

There will be awards for top archer, team score and team most charitable. There will be event t-shirts for all adult registered shooters while supplies last.
