Athens-Limestone County Chamber of Commerce is expanding opportunities for local students with the launch of Job Shadowing Week, a multi-day initiative designed to introduce a wide range of career paths across the community.
Set for March 30 through April 3, the program will connect students from Athens City and Limestone County Schools with hands-on experiences in industries ranging from automotive and manufacturing to healthcare, public safety, law and entrepreneurship.
Organized through the Chamber’s Workforce and Education division, the expanded format builds on the success of previous single-day events by offering a broader look at career options and direct engagement with local employers.
“This expansion allows students to see more, experience more and better understand the opportunities available to them right here in our community,” organizers said in the announcement. “We are committed to creating pathways that empower the next generation of workers.”
Each day of the week will focus on a specific industry, giving students the chance to visit local businesses, interact with professionals and observe real-world job environments.
The week begins Monday with Automotive and Manufacturing Day, followed by Medical Day and First Responder Day on Tuesday. Wednesday will highlight careers in law, while Thursday will focus on small business and entrepreneurship. The event concludes Friday with additional medical-focused experiences.
Participating locations include a mix of local businesses, healthcare providers, public safety agencies and educational institutions across Athens and Limestone County.
Chamber officials say the goal is to not only expose students to potential careers, but also to strengthen the local workforce pipeline by connecting young people with industries that are vital to the region’s continued growth.
Job Shadowing Week will take place at various sites across the county, with activities scheduled throughout each day.
