Athens-Limestone Hospital EMS dispatch relocated to Athens-Limestone 911 Center

ATHENS – In a major step to enhance public safety in Limestone County, Athens-Limestone Hospital has relocated its EMS dispatch operations to the Athens-Limestone 911 Center.

The move represents a joint venture between Athens-Limestone Hospital and the Athens-Limestone 911 Center, enhancing collaboration and strengthening emergency response capabilities across our region, according to a news release.

“This partnership is a major step forward in enhancing public safety,” said 911 Center Director Brandon Wallace. “Having EMS dispatch under the same roof means we can work in real time to make every second count.”

While the location of EMS dispatch has changed, the process for the community to request emergency medical services remains the same. All 911 calls will continue to be received and processed by the Athens-Limestone 911 Center, ensuring no disruption to the public.

By co-locating EMS Dispatch within the 911 Center, the new setup allows for quicker communication between agencies, streamlined coordination, and ultimately, faster response times during critical emergencies.

“This collaboration allows us to serve our community more efficiently and continue delivering the excellent care our patients rely on,” said Bret McGill, director of EMS at Athens-Limestone Hospital. “It’s a win for everyone in Limestone County.”
