Athens State names Adair dean of College of Business

ATHENS — Dr. Troy Adair has been named dean for the College of Business at Athens State University, effective July 1.

An Air Force veteran, Adair was a professor and co-director for the Computer Science and Business Degree Program at Lehigh University.

“Dr. Adair brings a wealth of experience to this position, having served in the military, the private sector, and higher education,” said Dr. Lee Vartanian, interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. “He is a thought leader within his field, having co-authored nationally renowned textbooks on finance and investing.”

Adair received his bachelor’s in computer science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham; master of business administration from the University of North Dakota; and a doctorate in finance from Indiana University.

As dean of the College of Business, Adair will maintain a strong commitment to quality and innovation to direct the program and enhance instruction.

“When I visited, I was very impressed by the professionalism and passion exhibited by everyone,” said Adair. “Clearly, Athens State is an exceptional university filled with committed faculty and staff, and I am overjoyed to be able to join them.”
