Body of newborn found in Decatur dumpster

DECATUR – The body of a newborn baby was found in a dumpster this morning at a Decatur convenience store, Decatur police reported.

According to a statement from the Decatur Police Department, the Criminal Investigation Division received information around 9 a.m. about the “possibility of human remains being located in a dumpster” at Wally World Mini Mart, 2505 Point Mallard Drive.

After they arrived, investigators found a “deceased newborn baby” inside a dumpster.

The body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville for an autopsy.

Decatur police had no further details but said more information will be released when appropriate.
