CULLMAN – In a celebration of skill and a shared commitment to a cause, Heritage Archery Club and the Bowhunters of Alabama are gearing up for the 13th Annual Bow-Up Against Breast Cancer 3D Archery Tournament. This family-friendly two-day event promises a fun weekend to fuel breast cancer research right here in Alabama.
This year’s tournament takes place at the Cullman Community Archery Park in Cullman, Alabama, on Memorial Day Weekend (May 25-26). Registration is open now! Archers can learn more and sign up today at bow-up.org.
Why Bow-Up?
Bow-Up Against Breast Cancer is not just another archery tournament; it’s a heartfelt initiative to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA). Breast cancer touches the lives of countless individuals, no matter their background. With 1 in 8 women and 1 in 833 men facing the disease in their lifetimes, the Alabama archery and bowhunting community decided to step up to raise money for research. In 2011, Bow-Up was born as a way to support local groundbreaking advancements in breast cancer diagnostics, treatment, and prevention with the goal of eradicating the disease. All funds raised at Bow-Up stay in Alabama.
Targeting a Cure: 3D Archery vs. Traditional
Unlike traditional target archery, 3D archery takes aim at life-sized, foam animal targets strategically placed along a wooded course. Archers navigate diverse terrains, simulating real-life hunting scenarios. This thrilling and immersive experience not only sharpens archery skills but also fosters a sense of community among participants.
Making a Difference, One Arrow at a Time
Since its inception, Bow-Up has been a beacon of hope for those in the Cullman community and beyond touched by breast cancer, raising over $230,000 for Alabama-based research. The impact doesn’t stop there; BCRFA-funded institutions across Alabama leverage these seed investments into larger grants from national and federal funders, amplifying the event’s lifetime impact to almost $3 million.

Bow-Up welcomes seasoned archers and those just discovering the sport to enjoy the excitement of 3D archery while making a meaningful impact in the fight against breast cancer. Local businesses are invited to show their support as event sponsors. Sponsorships range from $250 – 5,000. In addition to shooting for a cause, archers can also honor a loved one by creating a sign for the tribute wall.
