Boys in Blue notch big win heading into home finale

HUNTSVILLE — Going into this weekend’s home finale, the Boys in Blue picked up some major momentum with a big win Sunday at Atlanta United 2.

Led by three goals from Woobens Pacius, Huntsville City FC came away with hard-fought 6-3 victory.

“We were dangerous going forward,” said Head Coach Chris O’Neal. “Efficient, had some good ideas, and I think some of the goals were actually very high quality. So really pleased that they were able to execute.”

Pacius’ hat trick, the third in the club’s history, caught O’Neal’s attention.

“I would say he was dynamic, especially in the first half and coming off of the wing,” O’Neal said. “I think there’s still a little opportunities for him to do a little bit more when he’s in a more central role, but overall, very happy with him.”

The six goals ties a single-game team high for the struggling HCFC side.

“I think it speaks a little to the resilience and the ability to kind of deal with a little bit of adversity,” O’Neak said. “But then, you know, the positive thing is, I think we stuck to what we believe in, and ultimately that allowed us to, you know, find ways to execute on the other end as well.

“So difficult to receive three, but at the same time happy that they were resilient enough to fight back.”

For Pacius, it was his first career hat trick but his second brace of the season.

“It was a great performance from everyone,” said Pacius. “Even if I get the three goals today, it’s teamwork, and I’m really proud of the guys. It wasn’t easy. We were winning four-nil, and then it was 4-3 at a certain point, but we had the good mentality to go and score two more.

“So again, I give all the glory to God for that hat trick, and obviously, for that win, I’m really happy.”

The Boys in Blue wrap up the season Sunday when FC Cincinnati 2 visits Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium. Kickoff is 6 p.m. Tickets to the match can be purchased here.
