Built to Serve, Not to Sell

Several formerly local banks have been closing offices, leaving town, or selling out to big banks lately, but that is not something Bank Independent thinks about. It may have already happened to you or could be happening soon.

It is frustrating when the bank you trusted with your money sold off to an out-of-state bank or just closed the doors. It took place in Leighton in 1947 and Bank Independent was born to fill the void.

We are built with a single purpose – to provide a service to our customers. That’s what we have done for 75 years, that is what we are doing now, and that is what we will continue to do for 75 more years.

Throughout our history, leadership has been intentional about expanding to maximize the ability to make a positive difference by serving our team members, customers, and communities. We can’t help but reflect on the team members, customers, and community support that enabled a hometown bank to grow to become one of the largest banks in the state of Alabama.

Today, we employ more than 600 team members who are deeply involved in the areas served by the bank. We serve, not only the seven counties where we have a physical presence, but an international customer base as well.

After 75 years of service, our team members, leadership, and shareholders still honor the firm foundation established by our founding fathers. Bank Independent remains rooted in our vision to be the bank of choice in the communities we serve.

We have not been built to sell; but to serve. We plan to stay locally owned and independent so we can continue to serve our communities and make a positive difference for our team members and customers.
