HUNTSVILLE — It’ll be the Music City meets the Rocket City, with a couple of guitar riffs thrown in when Huntsville City FC takes on Nashville SC.

In what is called the Space Cowboy Match, HCFC of MLS NEXT Pro will host its parent club, Nashville SC of Major League Soccer tonight on Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium.

“It’s going to be a little bit of Nashville, a little bit of Huntsville,” said Chad Emerson, managing director of Business Operations for Huntsville City Football Club. “We’re going to do, for example, in Nashville before the match, one of their icons is a guitar riff. We are known for having cigar box guitars … so we’re going to have a cigar box guitar riff. So a little mashup of the two cultures.

“Afterward, thanks to our friends at Jacksonville State University, we’re going to have another great fireworks show to celebrate the end of a hopefully beautiful evening.”

Director of Soccer Operations Matt Cairns called the Space Cowboy Match a “celebration of our organization.”

“Nashville and Huntsville, we are all one. One big soccer club. The players that don’t play for Nashville will be around the stadium, autographs, and photo opportunities,” Cairns said. “There’s going to be a ton of attacking talent out on the field, plenty of goals, fireworks after.

Fans attending the game will have access to exclusive NSC/HSV merchandise such as a Space Cowboy tee and scarf. There will also be Space Cowboy-themed drink specials available.

“It’s going to be kind of like a carnival, a festival of soccer, however you want to look at it,” Cairns said. “But it’ll be a really fun evening for everyone.”

Tickets to the match can be purchased here. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
