ARDMORE — It may be a small town, but there are some big happenings going on this weekend in Ardmore.
In fact, Greater Ardmore Chamber Director Yolandia Eubanks was right to the point: “Ardmore will be very busy this Saturday.”
The day starts with the annual Ardmore Spring Clean. Sponsored by Keep Athens Limestone Beautiful, United Pest Control and the Greater Ardmore Chamber, the event begins at 8 a.m. when volunteers meet at the corner of Main Street and Ardmore Avenue for check-in and supply distribution.
And there is an enticement to participate – besides the pride of a clean community.
“The Ardmore McDonald’s provides breakfast for the volunteers and after the volunteers return from picking up trash,” Eubanks said. “Lunch will be provided by Two Dames with Dawgs and the Chamber outside the Chamber Office on 1st Street.”
Next up, it’s time to go shopping with the inaugural Shopping on the Avenue vendor market. Bliss and Birch organized the event and the businesses along Ardmore Avenue and local vendors will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Peter Cottontail won’t be hopping on the bunny trail, but he will be hippity-hopping at John Barnes Park.
The city is sponsoring an Easter egg hunt for children at the park at 10 a.m. To cap off the day’s activities, Piney Grove Baptist Church is sponsoring an Easter Extravaganza at 5 p.m. at the church on Pinedale Road.
- 8 a.m. to noon: Annual Community Cleanup hosted by United Pest & Turf Control. Vests, gloves, buckets, and grabbers are provided. Volunteers are needed and are asked to meet at the corner of Main Street and Ardmore Avenue. Breakfast will be provided by McDonald’s and lunch will be provided by Two Dames with Dawgs and the Greater Ardmore Chamber of Commerce.
- 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: The inaugural “Shopping on the Avenue” vendor market on Ardmore Avenue in downtown Ardmore, Ala. This event is sponsored by Bliss and Birch. This event features local vendors, family fun, and shopping.
- 10 a.m.: Easter Egg Hunt and photos with the Easter Bunny at John Barnes Park. There are four age groups (1 to 2 year-olds; 3 to 4 year-olds; K-1st-2nd grades; 3rd-4th-5th grades). The hunter with the most eggs wins a grand prize in each group.
“We hope everyone will come enjoy a day in Ardmore because we believe we have something for everyone,” Eubanks said.
