TUSCALOOSA – It’s become a tradition for the University of Alabama men’s basketball team.

When the Crimson Tide was announced Sunday as a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, it marked the third straight season Bama earned a No. 4 seed or better. The Tide was a No. 4 seed in 2024 and No. 1 seed in 2023.

On the court, Bama will face No. 15-seed Robert Morris in the East Region on Friday. Tipoff is set for 11:40 a.m. at the Rocket Arena in Cleveland and will be televised on truTV.

The winner of Friday’s opening round game will face the winner of No. 7 seed Saint Mary’s and No. 10 seed Vanderbilt.

It marks the 25th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, with Alabama owning a record of 27-24 (.529).

The Crimson Tide is also coming off last season’s first-ever appearance in the Final Four.

Notes

  • This marks the fifth tournament appearance in Nate Oats‘ six seasons as the Crimson Tide head coach
  • Alabama matches the program record, appearing in its fifth-straight NCAA Tournament set back in 2002-06 and 1982-86
  • Oats has guided his teams to NCAA Tournament appearances in eight of the nine years the event was held during his coaching career, including each year as the Tide’s head coach (tournament was cancelled in 2020 due to the worldwide pandemic).
