Don’t get waterlogged: Point Mallard adjusts hours for rest of the season

DECATUR – Staffing shortages have hit the parks and recreation business this season in much the same way as other service-oriented businesses.

In response to those challenges, and with many of its workers returning to school this week, Point Mallard is adjusting its hours of operation from now until it closes Labor Day.

The facility will be open daily this week through Sunday from 1-6 p.m. But, it will only be open weekends from 1-6 p.m. starting Aug. 13. The remaining schedule for the season is Aug. 13-14; Aug. 20-21; Aug. 27-28; and Sept. 3-5.

“Our main priority will always be the safety of our guests and employees,” said Point Mallard Park Superintendent Stephanie McClain. “I’m very proud of our staff and their performance this year, especially with the staffing challenges we’ve seen in our area and nationally.

“We’re going to finish our operating season the same way that we started it – by providing the best recreational experience possible for our guests.”

Point Mallard season passes will still be redeemable for entry into the water park.
