Organizers of Rock the South have postponed this weekend’s festival in Decatur after what officials described as unprecedented rainfall across Alabama left conditions at the festival site unsuitable for the event.

The City of Decatur and festival organizers announced Tuesday that Rock the South will now take place Oct. 1-4 at The Fields at Decatur.

“The monumental amount of rain that has fallen at the event site gives us no choice but to postpone the festival,” organizers said in a statement. “We are thankful that the headliners are available for the new dates, and appreciate the patience and support of all involved as we look to put on a great Rock the South later this year.”

All previously announced headliners will remain on the lineup. Zach Top will perform Thursday, Oct. 1; Jason Aldean will headline Friday, Oct. 2; and Riley Green will take the stage Sunday, Oct. 4.

Organizers also announced the festival will expand from three days to four days, with Jessie Murph added as a Saturday night headliner on Oct. 3 at no additional cost to ticket holders.

Most artists originally scheduled for the festival are expected to perform on the revised dates, with an updated daily lineup to be announced in the coming weeks.

“The safety of our festival attendees, artists, and staff is paramount, and we’re confident that the rescheduled dates will ensure an enjoyable festival experience for all,” organizers said.

All tickets and camping packages purchased for the original June dates will be honored for the October event. Festival officials said ticket holders will receive an email next week with information for those unable to attend the rescheduled festival.

The postponement comes during a landmark year for Rock the South as the festival prepares for its debut at its new permanent home in Decatur after spending 15 years in Cullman.

The move to The Fields at Decatur was expected to usher in a new era for the event, with more than 150 acres of festival grounds, expanded campgrounds, enhanced VIP experiences and additional fan amenities.

Festival organizers have said the new venue will allow Rock the South to continue growing while generating significant tourism and economic impact for Decatur and the surrounding region.

Additional information about the rescheduled festival, tickets and lineup updates will be posted at RockTheSouth.com.
