Downtown Athens Pub Crawl returns for St. Patrick’s Day weekend

Green beer, live music and a good cause are all on tap as the third annual Downtown Athens Pub Crawl returns Saturday, March 14.

The free, self-guided event invites visitors to park once and stroll through downtown while stopping at six local venues at their own pace throughout the evening.

Participating stops include Old Black Bear Brewing Co., Studio 16 Cigar Lounge, The Southern Table, Village Pizza, The Salty Cod and Irons and Ales.

Live music will also take place at Merchants Alley from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Event merchandise will go on sale starting at 3 p.m. at Old Black Bear Brewing Co., with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting Foundation 1:17, a local nonprofit organization.

Organizers say the event is designed to highlight Athens’ growing downtown scene while giving residents and visitors a festive way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

Admission is free, no tickets are required and attendees can join the crawl at any time during the evening. Organizers encourage participants to park downtown, walk between venues and drink responsibly.
