NORMAL — With a pioneering spirit of “we belong in every room, every booth, every broadcast,” Thai Floyd will be the first woman to serve as the full-time play-by-play announcer for the Alabama A&M football team.

According to HBCU Gameday, she may also be the first female full-time play-by-play announcer at a Historic Black College and University.
Floyd, who is a digital media specialist for the A&M athletics department, will call Bulldogs games in the upcoming season on WJAB-FM and across the Bulldogs radio network.
“This opportunity is a dream realized, and I’m deeply grateful to be trusted with it,” she said. “To be the first woman to serve as the full-time voice of Alabama A&M football — and possibly the first to hold this role at any HBCU — is bigger than me.
“It’s about legacy, representation, and reminding young Black girls that we belong in every room, every booth, every broadcast.”
Floyd earned her bachelor’s in broadcast journalism from Florida A&M University and is pursuing her master’s degree at Alabama A&M
She has also served as a sideline reporter and play-by-play commentator for more than 60 games on ESPN+ and ESPNU. Floyd covered the Celebration Bowl, Cheez-It Bowl, and Pop-Tarts Bowl as the digital reporter, was the in-game host of the Florida Classic and served as a sideline reporter for the Black College Hall of Fame Game.
