Alabama A&M tight end Abner earns HBCU All-American honors

NORMAL — Alabama A&M tight end Travaunta Abner earned another postseason award as he received HBCU College Football All-American honors by BOXTOROW.

Abner, a first team All-Southwestern Athletic Conference selection, was a huge asset to the Bulldogs’ passing game this season, catching 35 passes for 380 yards, along with three touchdowns. A redshirt senior, he averaged 10.9 yards per catch and 38 yards per game.

In addition, the Lanett native had 104 receiving yards, including a game-sealing 21-yarder, in a 23-21 victory over Tennessee State. Abner also recorded a season-high nine catches for 102 yards at Bethune-Cookman.
