Dress for success: Alabama A&M, Oxford Street partnership to help support career readiness

NORMAL — Alabama A&M has taking the phrase “dress for success” to the next level.

To that end, the university, which proclaims “Start here. Go anywhere,” is helping its students get a start in their careers by going into a partnership with Oxford Street Menswear, naming the brand as an official clothier.

This strengthens an already strong relationship between AAMU and Oxford Street, bringing exclusive benefits to students, faculty, and alumni, university officials announced.

Oxford Street Menswear has long supported AAMU students, particularly through discounts on professional attire for members of the Student Government Association and other student organizations.

The university cited Nu Epsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., which established a partnership to provide graduating members with tailored three-piece suits, shirts, ties, and alterations. Thanks to this initiative, every graduating member of the fraternity’s spring 2024 class received a suit.

Through the new MOU, a new line of Alabama A&M-themed professional wear will be introduced, blending school spirit with sharp, sophisticated style.

Oxford Street will incorporate AAMU’s logo and branding into custom-designed suits, ties, and shirts. Students, faculty, and staff will have access to exclusive promotions, seasonal sales, and loyalty programs.

The brand will host pop-up shops during major events such as homecoming, graduation, and orientation, making professional attire more accessible to students, faculty, and staff.

Oxford Street will also contribute to a fund aimed at supporting students in need and collaborate with Alabama A&M to host fashion shows, workshops, and professional dress seminars. AAMU students interested in fashion, retail, and business will also have opportunities to gain hands-on industry experience through internships with Oxford Street.

The agreement reflects Alabama A&M University’s commitment to student success – both in and out of the classroom – by ensuring access to career development opportunities, professional attire, and meaningful corporate partnerships.
