East Lawrence High School fined, forfeits games for violating transfer rule

MONTGOMERY – East Lawrence High School’s football program has been fined and placed on probation for playing an ineligible player in violation of the AHSAA Transfer Rule.

As a result, East Lawrence must forfeit the games they won where the ineligible student-athlete played, the AHSAA announced.

East Lawrence, a Class 4A team, will forfeit its non-region win over 5A Lawrence County and its Class 4A Region 7 win over West Limestone.

The ineligible player was assessed restitution for the contests he participated in while ineligible, the AHSAA said.
