FLORENCE — As construction to widen U.S. 72/Florence Boulevard in Lauderdale County continues, ALDOT advises motorists to expect nightly lane closures for about two weeks.

Asphalt leveling by Grayson Carter and Son Contracting will impact traffic beginning tonight. Motorists should expect single-lane closures in either direction between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. each night. The work may temporarily block side streets and accesses as well.

The work zone stretches about two miles, from Indian Springs Drive to Sky Park Road just west of Shoal Creek. The $24 million project will expand the two-mile segment to six lanes.

Funding includes a Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development grant obtained by Lauderdale County as well as a combination of state and other federal funding.

Motorists can visit ALGOtraffic.com or download the ALGO Traffic app for real-time traffic and road condition information and to subscribe to personalized traveler alerts.
