Fantasy Playhouse seeks education director

HUNTSVILLE – The search is on for an education director at Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy – and the position requires more than child’s play.

The senior-level staff position is responsible for the development, execution, financial oversight, and evaluation of FPCTA’s theatre arts education programming which is offered to thousands of youths and adults in the Greater Huntsville area and throughout Alabama and Tennessee.

Performing arts and technical theatre education are the backbone of FPCTA’s mission and the education director plays a vital part of its success the organization said.

The successful candidate will be responsible for attracting the area’s top teaching talent to execute all aspects of theatre arts training while growing FPCTA’s reputation of excellence as a workforce development and as a creative industries pipeline for tomorrow’s leaders.

The education director should be a seasoned theatre arts educator and administrator with a management style that embraces collaboration.

The candidate will lead a large education staff of teaching artists and contracted professionals and the position is charged with overseeing curriculum that will inspire student growth towards excellence and mastery of theatre arts.

This position is full-time exempt for Fair Labor Standards Act purposes and reports directly to the executive director, working in tandem with the artistic director and with other administrative staff.

The annual salary commensurate with experience and credentials and offers health and dental benefits, earned time off, a flexible work schedule, discounted programming for family members and provides the opportunity to enroll children/grandchildren in daytime camp/class programming to offset childcare needs.
