First Horizon Bank awarded three Huntsville businesses for their submissions to the Back to Business contest designed to celebrate resilient businesses in the communities the bank serves. The bank awarded $1 million dollars to 57 small businesses across six states.
The Veggie, a quick-service cafe offering vegan comfort food at Lowe Mill in Huntsville was awarded $30,000; Aesthetics MedSpa by Alicia, RN on Drake Avenue in Huntsville was awarded $10,000; and Vujee Vegan, a ghost kitchen and plant-based/vegan food concept on Meridian Street in Huntsville was awarded $5,000.
Thirty diverse entries were submitted from the Huntsville region, including boutiques, trucking companies and local restaurants. First Horizon selected 50 businesses as finalists in each of the contest communities and opened voting to the public.
“Strong businesses are the cornerstone of strong communities, and championing those businesses is at the heart of everything we do,” said Huntsville Market president Eric Sanders. “First Horizon is here as a partner, providing capital and counsel to local businesses.”
“We look forward to our First Horizon associates continuing long-term client relationships in the Huntsville community,” added Sanders.
Adyre Mason, owner of The Veggie said the prize money makes it possible for them to keep up with food and shipping costs, as well as a rising demand for their products. “We’re excited to continue being the epicenter for vegan cuisine in the city,” said Mason.
