Florence marks Independence Day with Spirit of Freedom Celebration

FLORENCE — Independence Day in Florence kicks off with the 40th Spirit of Freedom Celebration at McFarland Park with live music, food, and fireworks. 

Food trucks will open for service at 11 a.m. and will be in the park all day. Get meals from vendors such as Smashed, Off the Hook, Ramona J’s, Boona’s, Little Caesars Pizza, and Pop’s Food.

There will be tasty desserts and other fun treats from Fancy Funnel Cakes, Kona Ice, Quench, Sprinkles and Sparkles Cupcakes, D & B Concessions-Funnel Cakes, Destiny Concessions, and Pop’s Lemonade.

Other local vendors will also be set up in the park.

During lunch, Singing River Media Group’s radio stations WLAY, My Y101.5, Big Dog 105.5, and The Bull 94.9, will be broadcasting live, featuring various music genres and setting the stage for the festival lineup.

The patriotic celebration will start with live music at 4 p.m. on the Greenway Stage, with the headliner, Boomtown Saints, beginning at 8 p.m. The fireworks show by TNT will blast off from the Tennessee River at 9 p.m.

This year’s sponsors include the City of Florence, TNT Fireworks, CB&S Bank, Listerhill Credit Union, Greenway of the Shoals, and 8 Track Entertainment Co.
