Food for thought: Huntsville Utilities hosts Eats 4 Education

HUNTSVILLE — Think of it as good eatin’ for good schoolin’.

That’s what will be taking place Thursday as Huntsville Utilities hosts its second annual Eats 4 Education event.

With the places set at Big Spring Park from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., the event will feature food trucks, vendors and even graduation celebrations.

Eats 4 Education raises funds for The Schools Foundation and increases awareness of the education programs in Huntsville City, Madison City and Madison County schools.

Three of the foundation’s programs are:

  • Recharge: an online resource that provides content focused on mental health and overall wellness for teachers and school staff;
  • Principally Speaking Network: A free program that provides professional development and a forum for cross-district collaboration, problem-solving, and sharing among principals, assistant principals, superintendents, and additional school leaders from across North Alabama;
  • Raise Your Hand: An initiative to add 500 National Board Certified Teachers to Huntsville City, Madison City, and Madison County school systems.
