The Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association has launched a new digital golf challenge aimed at encouraging golfers to explore courses across North Alabama while earning prizes along the way.
The “Swing Away North Alabama Golf Challenge” features a mobile-friendly digital pass that allows participants to check in at participating golf courses throughout the region. Golfers who check in at five locations will receive a complimentary golf towel and golf ball marker from AMLA.
Officials said the initiative is designed to boost tourism, increase rounds of play and further position North Alabama as a golf destination.
The challenge includes 12 golf courses that are members of AMLA, including courses connected to the renowned Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
President and CEO of AMLA Tami Reist said the region offers a wide variety of golf experiences for players of all skill levels.
“North Alabama is home to three of the world-renowned Robert Trent Jones Golf Course and offers an incredibly diverse golf experience, with courses set among rolling foothills, lakeshores and vibrant communities,” Reist said. “The Swing Away North Alabama Golf Challenge makes it easier than ever for golfers to discover new courses, plan multi-course trips and experience the hospitality that makes our region special while providing our members with a powerful tool to increase visitation and track impact.”
The digital passport is powered by Bandwango and can be accessed through a smartphone without downloading an app. Participants receive the pass instantly through text message and email after registering online.
In addition to check-in functionality, the pass provides golfers with course information, maps, directions and nearby recommendations intended to encourage additional travel throughout the region.
The challenge also promotes North Alabama’s broader tourism offerings, pairing golf with outdoor recreation, music history, fishing, hiking and local culture.
Golfers can register for the challenge and view participating courses through Visit North Alabama golf guide.
