Former Auburn star to speak at Recovery Resource Fair

(Partnership for a Drug-Free Community contributed)

HUNTSVILLE — Former Auburn football player David Battle will share his story of 26 years in recovery during the fourth annual Recovery Resource Fair.

As part of National Recovery Month, Partnership for a Drug-Free Community and its Recovery Resource Hub are hosting the Sept. 21 event. It is from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.  in the One Stop Shop of Community Services at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Seminole Drive.

Anyone looking to learn about resources for a substance use disorder or addiction treatment — with or without insurance — are invited.

There will be up to 20 area treatment and service providers to answer questions.

Battle was a high school and college football standout until a knee injury ended his playing career at Auburn.

His subsequent involvement with illegal drugs and addiction led to his imprisonment twice – where he was eventually inspired to change. Since then, he’s earned four college degrees and works in the substance use field helping others find and maintain sobriety.

Parking will be available across the street from the center at the Rocket City Credit Union.
