The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reported on a freak accident that took the life of a Georgia construction worker last week while he was working in Marshall County.

The victim, identified as Albert Perezibarra of Albany, Georgia, was only 22.

Perezibarra was working from an elevated bucket attached to a parked truck around 6:32 p.m. on Feemster Gap Road near Warrenton Road, five miles from Guntersville.

According to ALEA, Perezibarra was holding a cable wire when the wire was struck by a passing 2024 Ram 3500 pickup traveling along the roadway.

The impact pulled Perezibarra from the elevated bucket, causing critical injuries.

Emergency responders airlifted Perezibarra to Marshall Medical North for treatment, but he later died from his injuries.

ALEA said the crash remains under investigation by troopers with the agency’s Highway Patrol Division.

The accident serves as a tragic reminder of the dangers construction and utility workers face while working alongside active roadways in North Alabama.
